When I watch him play, all I can think of is a skinnier Paul Pierce who's probably more athletic and can't shoot the three as well (yet). He's got the hesi, the cross, turnaround, stepback - everything Paul used to do. Now I haven't watched many full Duke games, caught a few quarters here and there and watched some of his highlights so maybe it's just me. What say you Celtic folk? Would you mind if we drafted him if the ping pong balls fall short of the #1 pick?
If you've never seen him play, here's a highlight reel
This stat comparison may be meaningless but...
Jayson Tatum
FG% .423 3PT% .306 FT% .855 REB 6.6 AST 2.0 PTS 16.8
Paul Pierce Freshman year at Kansas
FG% .419 3PT% .304 FT% .606 REB 6.6 AST 1.8 PTS 11.9
But Paul played 3 years and averaged 16.4 Pts thru 3 seasons and averaged 20.4 pts the last year. I'm just saying that Jayson Tatum is a legit player and he's posting PP numbers for what it's worth. I see that he's not always so high on people's list of who they want to draft but I think he's one of the most polished in the class and certainly more polished than someone like Josh Jackson. I don't know how we would work it out with our wing depth but I suppose we could just replace Gerald "Poor man's Nick Young" Green with the rookie. I'm sorry if this is rambly.
