In the link below Gordon Hayward steps inside the paint during the free throw attempt to insure another free throw shot for Kobe Bryant if he were to miss.
NBA Rulebook c. A player who occupies a free throw lane space shall not touch the floor on or across the free throw lane line....
Penalty: (3) In (c), a violation by the defense shall be disregarded if the free throw attempt is successful. If the free throw attempt is unsuccessful, a substitute free throw attempt is awarded.
Thank you to Gordon Hayward and the Utah Jazz for being a class act on a night where you and your team have just been eliminated from the playoffs. We have not forgotten about your playoff hopes and we appreciate what you have done this season, and for being a part of this historical game.
Credits to @WeLoveRobDyrdek for pointing this out.
Edit: People have pointed out that it might have been accidental, which is very possible. Regardless we got the fairytale outcome that everyone wanted.
edit: oops I should've swapped "season" and "year", sounds better that way.
so "Kobe was drafted the year MJ got the 72-10 record and retired the season the Warriors beat the record."
