I'm sort of changing my mind. When we got him, I thought he was a stop gap or maybe a 6th man on a title team. Now granted, if we can get a better star- that's a no brainer. But here is something to consider, if you went back in time 12 years or so, would you think you could win a title with PP as the best player? Ainge did and he was right.
Maybe we can win a title by just adding the modern equivalent to Ray, KG, Rondo and Perk.
(I get it is a seriously flawed comparison as you could argue that KG was the best player) But maybe we are not that far off. if IT is our PP scorer and 4th quarter guy, maybe Horford can be the stedy vet star Ray was and Brown can be the high energy young talent that Rondo was. So maybe just maybe we can win without getting DMC (or KD or whomever) and be ok with one more guy on the same level as IT.
I'm no fully convinced of this, but as each amazing IT game passes I'm slowly becoming more convinced.
