I've been a huge fan since day one. Your entire game has gotten immensely better in 2 years. You're shooting the lights out this year. You've defended some of the best in the league consistently since putting on a Celtics uniform. Your passion for the game and your passion for winning are unmatched. You're the perfect glue guy.
With that being said, your team is 21-14. You're 1-9 against top 7 teams. Cleveland has had our number. It's a fact: this exact Celtics team is not a contender. They need help. Gordon Hayward just happens to fit the bill right now. He's arguably the biggest name in the upcoming FA class, he has ties to Brad Stevens, he scores 20+ a game and is a clear-cut all star. Most importantly, he helps us compete with the Cavs.
It's nothing against Jae Crowder. Celtics fans love Jae Crowder. We want Jae Crowder to win a championship as a Boston Celtic. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Just because we like a player, doesn't mean he replaces Jae Crowder.
You may have lost some fans with your comments tonight. I, for one, don't want a player on "my" team that wouldn't have a problem leaving. In fact, I wanted to trade you immediately after seeing all the tweets. But then I looked at it from your end, Jae. Celtic fans cheered for a guy who plays your position because we want him in green next year, essentially putting you on the bench. But it's really not about that.
It's not about replacing you. It's not about replacing the work you guys put in. It's not about replacing the effort you guys made to make the Celtics a good team again. It's about rewarding you guys for all of that. We want you to win a championship in Boston. We want Avery and Isaiah and Marcus and Kelly and the rest of the foundation of this team to win a championship. You want a fan base who appreciates you. You won't find a fan base who appreciates you more than Boston. We want you to win a championship in Boston. We just know you guys need a little help to do it.
