Obviously this is far away and a lot could change, but I think it is worth considering what the Celtics could possibly do in next summer's free agency.
Looking at what is left after Westbrook's extension and that it will take an absurd 30 for 30 plot line for Durant to not stay with the Warriors, I'm not sure we have a max level guy left who we could get that who would be worth it for us.
We might have a shot at Blake Griffin, but there is a chance with the injury he has suffered that he might not be the same guy going forward. This is a wait and see situation that we can't definitively answer now.
Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry (don't see the Raptors not resigning him) and Paul Millsap IF they were available probably wouldn't be ideal candidates to hand out a huge max contract to. Paul and Lowry playing a position of relative strength for us and likely exiting their peak years. Millsap's late career improvement is also likely not sustainable for 5 more years.
Gordon Hayward is nice, but I'm doubtful he is worth a max contract that one of the 29 other teams would likely offer him.
Any thoughts and/or ideas?
