Can Anyone Give A Little Background on the Celtics and Pervis Ellison?

I'm a younger generation Celtics fan, and so in my time the highest draft picks that I've seen the C's make were Chauncey Billups and Jaylen Brown. I was bored looking through a list of every #1 overall NBA draft pick of all time and saw that Boston took Ellison first overall. I'm assuming the guy was a bust given that I've never even heard of him, but I was wondering if anyone could give a little background on that, like how we was/what kind of player he was coming out of school, why they took him first, and why he seems to have faded away into oblivion.
