Before anything happens in these playoffs at all, can we all step back and appreciate what our team gave us this year. The record does not do them justice. In all, this is what we are fans for. This is why we signed up for when we decided to become a Celtic fan, and that shouldn't be forgotten about. Lets look back on all the great things and positive impacts that the Celtics gave us this year: -a winning record and a 5 seed in a deep conference -a bonafide all star and borderline all-nba player to cling to -some very special wins and games: December 11, 2015- The Warriors come in undefeated and the Celtics give them a double OT game for the ages (which we know they could have won) and evidently prove to the NBA they are something to look out for. What a fun experience this one was. January 13, 2016- The Celtics enter this game on their worst stretch of the season, opening the new year 1-5 and look to be on the verge of yet another loss when all of a sudden they finish on a 12-0 run in under 2 minutes to play to beat the Pacers 103-94. They avoid falling below .500 here and this is a contender for best game of the season in my eyes. February 5, 2016- @ Cleveland. We all know about this game. The Celtics went in with this chip on their shoulder, as Cleveland seemed to be an issue for them the past two seasons. Cleveland starts out dominant and the Celtics look to be proving their critics right: until late in the game where the Celtics improbably cause a turn-over off a missed FT and BOOOM! AVERY BRADLEY WON THE GAME! 104-103 and the Celtics just upset the frontrunner in their own house. Contender for best game of the season. February 10, 2016- Just five days later the Celtics close out the pre-ASG half of the season by facing a stacked Clippers team. They keep up for the game, until Chris Paul starts imposing his will. However, even at this moment where the Clippers are taking over, the Celtics shock us again and push it to OT. After dropping 139 points on the Clippers, they prove they won't lost and go into the ASG at 32-23 and are now confident as ever. Contender for best game of the season. April 1, 2016- The Celtics are in the midst of what seems to be a bad west coast trip, and now they must face the Warriors without Jae Crowder in a stadium where the Warriors had yet to lost a game all season. However, the Celtics simply did not back down. Steph goes ahead and drops 21 on us in the third, but Isaiah does not back down and scores 18 and Boston wins the quarter despite the NBA's best player playing his best in his home arena. Boston snaps a 54 GAME HOME STREAK and wins 109-106. Definitely a contender for best game of the season, and at this point we know our team can do whatever it wants. April 13, 2016- Boston plays Miami after dropping a terrible game to Charlotte and knows it must win for a chance at the 4 seed. On a night where champions and celtic legends sit curtsied Boston comes out and loses the first quarter 35-13... to the Heat who are right next to them in the standings. They end up being down 24 at half with a score of 62-38. We are all shocked and most likely worried about implications against playoff teams at this point... until the third quarter happened. Boston goes on a 41-9 run over the span of 16 minutes and holds miami to FIVE POINTS in the third quarter. They end up winning 98-88 somehow, someway, and on the last day of the season, fittingly, this team completes the biggest comeback of this historic NBA season: a 26 point bar-fight comeback. Another contender for best game of the season.
IN a season where all of this positivity happens AND we get a lottery pick from the third worst team in the NBA... I feel we have a lot to be happy about. We got the 5th seed, we are playing the Hawks, I know it isn't ideal. But, before game 1 on saturday of the playoffs, lets sit back and realize what a show these guys gave us. To this point, I realize being a Celtics fan this season had a greater impact on my life than any season since 08. I realize this is a discussion thread, so amidst your reminiscence of this fantastic season, here are a few questions: what did you expect out of this season, and since there are so many options for best Celtics game of the season, which one do you go with?? Personally, I would say either last nights epic comeback or the historic win in Oracle. Then again, the Cleveland one looks pretty nice.... or that much needed Pacers win... tough to decide. Hope you guys enjoyed this season as much as I did, and I am confident we can beat the Hawks going forward.
