No Ray Allen, no 17th banner. Ray had several monster games in both our finals runs during that big three era, and while it's hard to swallow how he left us to play less minutes on the team that beat us in the playoffs, just watching where he was as an athlete at that point in time makes me understand. Ray's a professional. He gave us five quality years at the tail end of his prime because he believed in the organization. Even if he had stayed another year like KG, its pretty clear in retrospect that the team was running on fumes. The Heat as we knew them are dead. Time has passed. Ray's not even in the league anymore. I think we should do what we, as Celtics fans, are known to do and retire the number of every great player who came into this organization and delivered on everything they promised.
Just some food for thought.
