I'm sure a lot of you have heard of the theory that the height of a player's hair affects their shooting. If you haven't, here is the video I am referring to.
Your Hair is in the Way of Your Shooting
The idea is that your hair will get in the way of your jump shot, since your hand is supposed to be right by your head when you shoot.
Which leads me to Marcus Smart. As we all know, Marcus is a terrible shooter. However, until just recently, he has had his french fry hair. This may have been one of the factors that played into his poor shooting.
On February 2nd, Marcus finally got a haircut. I have compiled some before and after haircut stats for this season.
Before haircut: .356 fg% , .304 3P% , .474 TS% , 9.9 ppg
After haircut: .481 fg% , .342 3P% , .600 TS% , 13.1 ppg
Clearly, these numbers strongly support the Hairspiracy. As with all data, we must recognize that small sample sizes like this are susceptible to variability. However, I personally believe that this improvement will be permanent.
