First off, I live in Texas, born in New Hampshire(dad was military who was born in Boston and my grandpa pitched for the sox in the 40's.) so I've always had deep roots with all the sports teams. I remember every Sunday my dad would have his brother blasting the radio in the phone and he would put it on speaker for the Patriot games. Was so cool how we'd cheer so quietly lol.
Anyways, I run a real estate team and I took on a buyer that I got a random call from. This lady sounded like she was new to the process but I knew she was in her 40+. I met up with her and her son(who was a giant) and after a buyer consultation we went off to go look at some houses.
This lady was very genuine and such a sweet lady, but also I could tell she was keeping things close to herself. That's okay, I didn't need to know all the details of her life so I never pressed.
Here is where it gets crazy... after we go under contract I let her know I went on a whim and I told her I was going out of town this week to fly 2,000 miles to catch the Patriots play in the AFC:C game and so happens the Celtics play Saturday and would watch them as well. She then says "Oh, I wish you woulda let me know, I would of got you VIP access and meet all the players".
Me:laughs
Client: Seriously, my husband played for the Celtics. _____ was my husband.
Me: WHAAAAAAAATTTTT?????!!!!
So, I want to keep their names as much private as I can even though she wouldn't care I told this story but her husband is a Celtic legend and I who is probably the ONLY Boston sports fan in the city I live in, got HER as my client and we both had no clue we had Boston ties thats 2k miles away... HOW BIZZAR is that?!
The best part: She called me up the day before I left and said "Hey Mazzpal, I talked to my people and they got you VIP access for you and your wife, you go have tons of fun, say hello to all the players for me when you get to go visit them in the locker room and when you talk to Danny, tell him I said hello."
I got off the phone with my jaw on the floor and I just screamed like a 12 year old in my office and about 7 people came running down the hall asking what's going on.
I still cannot believe this. I cannot wait for tomorrow night for this experience. It makes me know that it doesn't matter where people are at but this universe is insane and will put the people in place at the right time for you. We've been working two weeks together and we didn't talk once about Boston. Then, I randomly let her know I'd be out of town for two work days and BOOM!
I haven't been to a Celtic game before nor a patriot game here in Boston. We always catch them playing in Dallas/Arlington. So excited to be apart of the home team now.
