An Observation about the difference between Horford and Sullinger on the defensive end.

Like everyone else, I expected the starting line-up where Al Horford replaced Jared Sullinger on the defensive end, should be a huge upgrade. I expected to struggle with giving up offensive rebounds and easy second chance points. However, I did not see this huge drop in defensive efficiency.
The most obvious difference I am noticing between watching games this year versus last year, is the lack of communication on the defensive end. I remember Sully's voice constantly calling out plays and quarterbacking the defense. Sullinger has an extremely high basketball IQ, and he learned how to direct the defense well from Kevin Garnett, another big who constantly communicated on the defensive end.
This year, the defensive end is so quiet. Al is one of the quietest players on the court. Amir is another big who is very quiet on the defensive end. It is quite eerie for someone who is used to constantly hearing KG, Rondo, Pierce, Sullinger even Turner constantly communicating when they are on the floor. Marcus is the only guy who I can hear communicate on defense this year, but he is usually at the front line and cannot see what is happening. I strongly feel AL has to go out of his comfort zone and start directing the defense if we are to be successful.
