UPDATE: Kyle Singler is No Longer the Worst Player in the NBA and More People Need to Know

In honor of Kyle's first double-digit scoring performance of the year last night (in which he was awarded the historic Riverwind Casino Player of the Game award), I thought it might be time to give him his props. On December 6th of 2015, I wrote a Reddit post declaring that Singler was the worst player in the NBA and that more people needed to know this fact. What happened on the court in the month and a half since that post has been nothing short of the greatest comeback in sports history.

Pre-Reddit Post (16 gms played):

  • Shooting splits: 24/20/50. If you'll remember or can do simple math, we discussed previously how these three numbers did not add up to 100. This didn't really mean anything, but it seemed significant. Not to spoil anything, but I would like to formally announce that the only guard/wing left in the NBA with > 150 minutes played and shooting splits that do not add up to at least 100 is...JAMES YOUNG! Congrats!

  • 0 assists (total)

  • Worst PER (-1.16) in NBA History among players with > 150 minutes played. Again, no spoilers, but that title has now been returned to Jay Humphries, its rightful owner.

Post-Reddit Post (17 gms played):

  • Shooting Splits: 50/53/70. I'll save you the time. These numbers add up to 173, almost double his old numbers.

  • 8 assists (total), which includes 2(!) multi-assist games.

  • Kyle's PER has climbed from a -1.16 to a 5.2 on the season. There are now 9 players (including old friend Sasha Vujacic!) who have played at least 150 minutes this year and have a worse PER than Singler. Does Singler still have the biggest contract of those guys?...Yes, of course, but today is a day for celebration so let's move on.

  • Kyle has hit his last 7 shots from the field, his last 5 3-pt attempts, and his last 4 free throws. He's forgotten how to miss and there's no reason to think this won't continue forever. Favorite highlight of his over this HOT streak.

Now, did my Reddit post magically turn Kyle Singler into a valuable player again? Absolutely. Of course not. Kyle has been a solid NBA player in the past and was always going to break out of this terrible slump.you don't know that... I'm just glad he's back on track and has been contributing to the team again.I'M COMING FOR DION NEXT!

And now, courtesy of /u/Splash2ndCousin, a video from last night of Kyle hitting a sky hook because anything is possible.
